WELCOME TO CUB SCOUT PACK #1081

www.pack1081.org

Cub Scout Pack 1081 is part of the Montgomery County District of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  Our chartering organization is the Randolph Hills Lions Club. We are located in the Silver Spring and Rockville Area.

Cub Scout Pack 1081 is a very busy Pack. We hold weekly den meetings, a monthly Pack meeting and, at least two activities a month. Our families enjoy camping twice a year, attend sporting events, (baseball and basketball games), museum trips, Pinewood Derby car races, summer camping, pool parties, Hiking the Billy Goat Trail, Scouting for Food, to name just a few activities. We invite you to find out more about our pack.

DEN MEETINGS

Each den meets every Monday at 6:30 PM for about one hour at Viers Mill Elementary School. (11711 Joseph Mill Road Silver Spring, MD 20906. The den leaders for the fourth and fifth grade boys usually meet with the boys for 1 ½ hours. At den meetings, boys work on projects to help them meet requirements for advancement as well as other activities. Some of these requirements will also need to be completed at home. Parents may be asked to assist the den leader with meetings. Each boy is assigned to a grade appropriate den. Each den leader will share further information about their particular den.

PACK MEETINGS

Pack 1081 usually meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM at Viers Mill Elementary School. A parent should attend all pack meetings with the scout. The entire family is welcome to attend. At pack meetings, the boys receive awards, perform skits and songs, complete art activities and generally just have a good time!

UNIFORM

Uniforms are worn at pack and den meetings, for special events, and on all outings. New Cub Scouts will need the following items:  Shirt, hat, neckerchief and slide, and the following patches- Council patch, Pack numbers, and Den number.

Tiger, Wolf and Bear Scouts wear blue Cub Scout shirts. Webelos scouts may wear blue or   tan Boy Scout shirts.

HANDBOOKS

1st  graders  or   6 year olds - Tiger book

2nd  graders  or  7 year olds - Wolf book

3rd  graders  or  8 year olds - Bear book

4th  & 5th graders  or  9 & 10  year olds - Webelos book

PARENTS, PLEASE study the parent's supplement in the front of the handbook!  It will answer many questions about the Cub Scout program.

The program is designed so that SON AND PARENT WORK TOGETHER.  Your son should take his handbook to each den meeting so the den leader can record his progress on achievements and electives. The parent records the Cub Scout's progress in his book.  Please keep your son's book up to date - we want your child to earn the badges, patches, and awards he deserves! You do not need to bring handbooks to pack meetings or activities.

Uniforms, patches and handbooks may be purchased at:  Scout Shop, 9190 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland

Patches may also be purchased from our Awards’ Chairperson, Mrs. Kim Polk

BOBCAT BADGE

All new Scouts will earn the Bobcat badge before they begin to work on their Tiger, Wolf, Bear or Webelos badges. After the badge is earned then the scout can work toward his rank badge.  Bobcat requirements are found in all the handbooks.

Our next pack meeting is September 18th -- We hope to see you there!
